WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME

I'm so excited you're here!

My name is Jami and I'm no homeschool expert! Infact, I'm not an expert in anything, except my family! I'm just your average housewife, living and learning through every life experience.

I'm married to my teenage sweetheart and we have two beautiful children together. Lily is 16 and has finished year 10. She is an aspiring private investigator and is planning on being fully qualified and licenced by the time she's 18 (Legal required aged). Jax is 7 and he's my last baby. Born with a rare genetic condition, his journey thus far is pretty different. He had surgery at 10 months and his daily hurdles are his hearing, joints and eyesight. He has restrictions (placed on by specialists) on activities he's allowed to do because of his joints and eyes. His hearing has impacted his speech and he does have a significant delay because of this. We've been told to expect him to catch up to his peers when he's about 10-11 years old. It is until this point, he will be homeschooled. However, besides all that, he's an incredibly loving and kind (but loud) boy; who loves sticks and being a ninja.

Our homeschool journey is a little here and there, as Lily chose to go to school for a couple of years. In our family, (if it wasn't for Jaxon's extra needs) it's the child's choice to go to school or not. If you were to ask Lily, she'd say she is never going to school again - after her attempt in year 7 which lasted until May. That's a whole blog post, so when I've done that I'll link it here.

I love homeschooling! But for us, it's a lifestyle, so I've barely realised I'm doing it! Lily required a very weird mix (think unschooling meets school-at-home). She wanted freedoms to do what she wanted, but she also wanted me to create marking criteria for any work she was supposed to complete. I could never really plan with her. She would change her mind, alter the lesson and go off on her own tangent learning. This is a great quality to have, but not so great for planning. So I learned to record after the fact. So now, I have this weird blend of planning and recording. Hence why planners are not something I can buy. There's just none that give me that flexibility, so I've been making my own since 2015.

Jax is a different learner. He thrives on structure and consistency. So in 2021, (his first full year of school) I get to plan ahead. This is something I'm really excited about! This is my forte and where I thrive. It took me years to let go and not plan! Naturally, my 2021 planner reflects this new change and it's really inspiring me each day.

As you can read, I'm passionate about planning and recording. This is due to events in my childhood. I don't have much stuff from my childhood. We moved around a lot (another blog post, I'm sure) and too many times we could only take what we could carry. It didn't matter how old we were (my poor brother is 4 years younger than me, and he was not more special); if you couldn't carry it - it didn't come. I also don't have a fantastic memory, unless it's related to where things are- then I'll remember it! So these two things combined mean I focus a lot of my attention on recording all my memories and everything that's going on in my days because I love to look back and remember.

I'm also passionate about parenting, living, time management, organisation (although I'm no Marie Kondo! I like the organised live-in look, where I don't have to stress if someone doesn't put it back exactly the same direction as everything else). See, I'm just your typical housewife, putting into practice the lessons life has taught me.

I love Instagram. If you want to, come hang out - I'd love for you to say Hi! Or you could just stalk me. Whichever type of Instagrammer you are. I hang out in my stories as I'm an oversharer, so there's plenty to see#canthelpit

Is that a Leo thing?

Thanks for stopping by this page. Feel free to continue exploring the Blog posts - where you may find one of my printables to download; or come over to Insta.
Either way, have a fantastic day!
Love Jami
